My internship at MONDRA (A Social Welfare Society) was a meaningful learning experience. I gained practical knowledge about rural development, community empowerment and sustainable agriculture through field visits, including mushroom farming and hi-tech farming. I also learned about MONDRA’s work and improved my skills through various programmes and activities.

My internship at MONDRA Welfare Society was a meaningful and transformative experience. I gained practical exposure to the social sector and developed a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable communities.

During my internship, I:

1. Visited a mushroom field and learnt about mushroom cultivation.

2. Visited the Centre of Excellence and Hi-Tech Farming and learnt about soilless farming.

3. Participated in a national seminar titled "Tantra 'Swadeshi' Mantra 'Vande Mataram': Essential Pillar for Bharat's Economics and Cultural Development".

4. Conducted video screening and analysis.

5. Learnt about report writing and documentation.

6. Conducted a field survey on Global Warming Awareness in Suryamaninagar.

7. Made a PPT presentation on the survey findings.

8. Learnt how to make an internship diary and also made one internship diary based on my experience.

Overall, this internship enhanced my knowledge, strengthened my professional skills, and inspired me to contribute meaningfully towards building a more just and compassionate society.

Being a part of Mondra Welfare Society has been a meaningful experience for me. My role has mainly involved field research, community surveys, and interacting with people to understand their experiences and the social issues they face.

Through this work, I have had the opportunity to listen to different voices and understand communities from a closer perspective. It has also taught me the importance of communication, empathy, teamwork, and documenting people’s experiences with sensitivity.

MONDRA (A Social Welfare Society) is a registered non-profit organization in Tripura focused on community welfare through initiatives in education, women’s development, health awareness, environmental sustainability, and cultural preservation. Its work reflects a commitment to empowering underserved groups and promoting sustainable social development.

I have been associated with MONDRA for several years, an NGO founded by Dr. Sunil Kalai, a young academic from Tripura driven by a deep commitment to the welfare of the community he was born into. Emerging from Dwarkhai, Kalaipara, a remote village in Sipahijala district, his vision for a people-centred organization took shape through years of thought and was formally realized in 2018.

MONDRA brings together like-minded individuals committed to social upliftment despite limited resources. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Kalai devoted himself fully to relief work, vaccination drives, and long-term livelihood initiatives such as fisheries, horticulture, nurseries, and self-help groups. My volunteering experience since 2019, including accompanying him during fieldwork and community engagement, taught me that compassion demands patience, that social work holds value beyond returns, and that contributing to someone’s well-being brings deep fulfillment. Each day brought new challenges, learning, and purpose, leaving a lasting impression and reinforcing the joy of giving through sustained engagement with MONDRA
